Queue Bing Crosby because it’s Christmastime in the city. The Peninsula Chicago,“the home of Christmas,” is your destination for a merry weekend this season.
Stories from the Tree
Live story-telling sessions of “The Gingerbread Man’s Tale,” a digital storybook specially written for The Peninsula Chicago, will continue the “Stories from the Tree” tradition this year. Story characters will be sold as charming tree ornaments that benefit the Chicago Public Library Foundation. Keep an eye out for the gingerbread house located at the Holiday Desk for the ornaments as well as other seasonal gifts.
The Peninsula Sky Rink
The only hotel skating rink in Chicago, surrounded by Chicago’s skyscrapers and twinkling city lights, is returning for its eighth season! Enjoy festive music to practice that couples skating routine and a selection of hot beverages.
Holiday Tea With Mrs. Claus
Gather around The Peninsula Chicago’s perfectly decorated 20-foot Christmas tree for a holiday tea. Mrs. Claus hosts a tea for children, which includes lunch, holiday cocktails for the parents, story time, cookie decorating, and a surprise visit from Santa. Want to decorate more cookies? Take the Gingerbread Decorating Class!
A five course Christmas Eve Dinner will be served in The Lobby featuring Royal Ossetra caviar, Winter truffle salad, and foie gras. Of course, the evening will conclude with dessert from the Chocolate Bar before Santa brings the presents. On Christmas Day, experience a luxurious brunch buffet showcasing charcuterie, sushi, bourbon glazed ham and a duck carving station! Bring your appetites and watch the city sidewalks from inside the cozy restaurant.
Ring in the New Year
A festive balloon drop and champagne toast will have you humming Auld Lang Syne all evening at the New Year’s Eve Gala in The Lobby. A welcome cocktail will set the tone of the roaring 20’s themed evening, followed by a five course dinner, live music and dancing. Hey Siri, play “What are you Doing New Years Eve?” by Ella Fitzgerald as I put on my ball gown.
