Winter/Spring Graphic Design Intern

Reporting to the in-house Graphic Designer, interns will collaborate with marketing, sales, food & beverage, HR and other departments, participating in the conceptualization and execution of both customer-facing and internal artwork including signage, brochures, advertisements, sales collateral and more.

Ideal Start Date: Flexible; mid to late January

End Date: Flexible; early to mid May

Hours: 15-20 hours/week


Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

- Participate in internal meetings as well as meetings with agencies and other partners
- Execute artwork in accordance with both established and developing brand guidelines for various uses across both print and digital mediums
- Assist with the production of biweekly newsletter
- Update company websites using backend CMS
- Assist in the management of priorities and production schedules, working with vendors to to meet deadlines
- Participate in creating, maintaining and improving organizational & operational systems
- Manage and maintain graphic art and photo library
- Contribute to photo library and bi-weekly staff newsletter by taking photos of cruises, staff, etc.

Desired Skills:

- Positive attitude and ethics which support our company’s values and culture
- Ability to manage and follow-up on tasks assigned
- Understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Comfortable working in Mac OS
- Organized
- Detail-oriented
- Has strong sense of color, composition and typography
- Interest spans a variety of design areas
- Eagerness to engage in conceptual and creative visual problem solving
- Willingness to collaborate and interact in a team environment
- Outgoing (willingness to interact with other departments, vendors, etc.)

This position is ideal for a candidate who enjoys designing across a variety of mediums and applications from print to digital, taking interest in everything from wayfinding to advertising, print layout, typography and more. Photography skills a plus. Candidates with an interest in designing in an intimate corporate setting (rather than, or in addition to, an interest in working in an agency setting) are encouraged to apply.

Winter/Spring Marketing Intern

Seeking an individual who loves Chicago and is eager to learn. - Craft and engage in guerrilla marketing initiatives for Canine Cruise
- Email communications
- Expand neighborhood outreach for cruises
- Foster partnerships between cruises and other brands/businesses
- Familiarize oneself with brand through various cruise experiences (when in season)
- Contribute to photo and video capture aboard cruises (when in season)
