To say that the world has had to adjust over the last few months due to COVID-19 is an understatement, but there are still ways to enjoy all of the sights, sounds and tastes that summertime Chi has to offer! At Chicago’s First Lady, nothing is more important to us than the safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers, so we’re excited to have reopened while implementing the highest-quality safety precautions during our sightseeing cruise in Chicago. Read on to learn more about some of the other fun, safe things you can do to enjoy the rest of the summer season!
The Floating Rooftop
Your Chicago rooftop experience just got elevated in more ways than one! Unwind in a safe outdoor environment as we have transformed the upper deck of one of our vessels into the perfect place for happy hour. Chicago’s only floating rooftop is open Friday-Sunday and tables are available for 90 minutes at a time. For everyone’s safety, all guests are, of course, required to wear masks while they are getting onboard and any time they are not seated at their tables. With refreshing drinks like the Summertime Spritzer or White Claw buckets for the table, you can’t go wrong! Learn all about the Floating Rooftop here.
Garfield Park Conservatory
Garfield Park Conservatory is located on Chicago’s west side and is one of the most beautiful indoor gardens in the country. It’s open year-round and offers more than 10 acres of outdoor gardens, play spaces for children and stunning scenes for everyone to enjoy. The best part? Admission is free!
Enjoy a Picnic with a View
Did you know that July is National Picnic Month? Now couldn’t be a more ideal time to gather up some of your favorite foods and drinks and head to your local park for a picnic. If you are meeting friends, make sure that you stay at least 6 feet apart and wear masks. Some of our favorite parks throughout the city include Maggie Daley Park, Grant Park, Lincoln Park, and Oz Park. Don’t forget to put together a playlist of some of your favorite songs beforehand and bring your best speaker to set the summertime mood!
Support a Local Restaurant
Many local Chicago restaurants have really perfected the art of takeout in a safe yet efficient way. If you are looking to switch up your routine if you’re sick of cooking, look up some local restaurants near you and offer your support. Some of our favorite local restaurants include the Northman Beer & Cider Garden and Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba. At the Northman, make sure to try one of their unique ciders! At Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba, indulge in authentic paella. This small act of supporting local restaurants will mean the world to any small business owner! Make sure to leave them a glowing review online, too.
The Lade Grebe Chicago River Experience
Lady Grebe, our perfectly preserved 48-foot vintage yacht, is the ideal backdrop for summer 2020. This incredible vessel is now available to rent for private, 90-minute cruises every weekend! Some examples of cruise highlights include a U.S. Coast Guard certified captain behind the helm, non-alcoholic beverage services and a bartender, some of the most incredible city views you’ve ever seen, and so much more. Read all about this experience and make your reservation here!
Chicago Architecture Center Walking Tours
The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) offers informational walking tours highlighting different areas of the city. Whether you’re looking for a tour of Chicago’s historic landmarks or are more interested in Chicago’s role in the Civil War, you’ll find something that catches your eye. Make sure to wear a face mask and comfortable walking shoes!
